Customizing Linux for the Classroom

bear454's picture

The Linux universe includes a broad array of teaching tools, amazing software, and access to diverse technologies, but a traditional Linux desktop can be too much for a classroom or subject, either requiring a lot of discipline or providing an equal fill of distraction.

In this session, we'll discuss SUSE Studio ( ), a (relatively) simple online tool for customizing Linux, and show examples of how to provide a targeted, learning-friendly experience.

A large part of Linux in the educational world isn't in the classroom though, its under the purview of SysAdmins.  We'll take a look at SUSE Gallery ( ) and learn how to quickly customize and deploy a prebuilt application server.
